It’s Earth Day and what better way to mark the occasion than with a celebration of flowers. Now, we all know that flowers delight us with their colorful blossoms and sweet perfumes—but did you know that flowers also have a very secret—and sexy—language of their own?
Flowers speak? Oh, indeed they do! The hero and heroine of my new book, TOO TEMPTING TO RESIST, are both conversant in floral messaging (much more intriguing than text messaging!) and it makes for some pretty interesting conversations! There is a whole art to communicating with a bouquet of blooms. Did you know that a yellow iris means ‘passion’ and sweetpea signifies ‘blissful pleasure’?
What to know another little secret? Next time your Significant Other sends you red roses, here are five things that those lovely petals can be saying:
- 1 single red rose signifies true love
- 15 red roses means an apology
- 50 red roses say unconditional love
- 108 red roses is a proposal of marriage
- 999 red roses means eternal love
(Now, I have to say . . . if I were designing my OWN secret language of flowers, I would make a single red rose and 998 pieces of dark chocolate the symbol of eternal love!)
